Chennai will be taking on Gujarat in the seventh match of the Indian T20 League 2024 on Tuesday (March 26) at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Both the teams met in the final of the last season. However, the equation has changed for both teams this year. Hardik Pandya has moved to Mumbai after captaining Gujarat for two years and has been replaced by Shubman Gill. Ruturaj Gaikwad has taken the baton from MS Dhoni and had a successful start to his captaincy stint.

Chennai took on Bengaluru in the season opener, where Bengaluru elected to bat after winning the toss. They scored 173 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs. Mustafizur Rahman was the pick of the bowlers for Chennai. He picked four wickets for 29 runs on his debut for Chennai. Rachin Ravindra emerged as the highest run-scorer for Chennai and made 37 runs off 15 deliveries. Chennai reached the target of 174 runs in 18.4 overs with six wickets in hand. Mustafizur won the Player of the Match award.

Gujarat faced Mumbai in their first game of the season, where Mumbai won the toss and elected to bowl. Gujarat scored 168 runs for the loss of six wickets in 20 overs. Sai Sudharsan made 45 runs off 39 deliveries and was the highest scorer for the team. Mumbai could make only 162 runs for the loss of nine wickets at the end of the 20th over. MA Chidambaram Stadium Pitch Report

The batters are again likely to find it easy to score runs at the MA Chidambaram in Chennai as we saw in the first gae between Chennai and Bengaluru. The average first innings total in the last 10 T20 matches here has been 170 runs. The average wickets lost per inning in the last 10 matches has been seven.

Nine out of the 10 wickets that fell in the first game was taken by pacers. However, both spinners and pacers are likely find an equal help from the surface. The teams batting first and second have won equal number of matches in the last 10 matches.
