The Lucknow Super Giants secured a convincing 28-run victory over the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 15th match of the IPL 2024 season played at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 2nd.

LSG Batting Powered by de Kock and Pooran:

Lucknow Super Giants vs Royal Challengers Bengaluru

LSG opted to bat first and got off to a flying start thanks to a blistering knock by Quinton de Kock. The South African southpaw smashed 81 runs off just 56 balls, including 8 fours and 5 sixes. Wickets fell at regular intervals around him, but Nicholas Pooran provided a late flourish with an unbeaten 40 off 21 balls to help LSG post a competitive total of 181 runs.

RCB Falter in Chase:

Royal Challengers Bangalore’s chase never really got going. Mayank Yadav, the LSG pacer, was the wrecker-in-chief, picking up three crucial wickets including the dangerous duo of Glenn Maxwell and Cameron Green for cheap. Openers Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli struggled to find momentum, and apart from a brief fightback by Rajat Patidar (36) and Mahipal Lomror (33), RCB’s batting lacked fluency.  Naveen-ul-Haq chipped in with two wickets at the death, restricting RCB to 153 runs and handing LSG a comfortable win.

Key Performers:

  • Lucknow Super Giants: Quinton de Kock (81), Nicholas Pooran (40* ), Mayank Yadav (3-23)
  • Royal Challengers Bangalore: Rajat Patidar (36), Mahipal Lomror (33)

LSG climb to fourth place in the points table with this victory, while RCB remain winless after four matches.
