Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) will be taking on each other in the 19th match of the IPL 2024. Both teams have had a contrasting journey in the league so far. While RR is placed in the top half of the points table, RCB is placed in the bottom half of the points table. RR is one of the two teams to be unbeaten in the league so far. It is to be seen if RCB can end the winning streak of RR in the upcoming match, given their record against the 2008 champions.

RCB are in the 8th position in the points table. They cannot afford to lose their upcoming match which could push them further down in the points table. RR have played three matches and won all of them. With a total of 6 points and a positive net run rate of +1.249, RR are placed well in the points table. RCB have lost three of their four games so far. With a total of 2 points and a negative net run rate of -0.876, RCB is not placed well in the table.

RCB are the only team to lose 2 home games in the season so far. They have a good record over RR and would love to continue it by playing well. The last time these two sides met each other, RCB dominated RR in their backyard. RR has some of the best players in the world in their lineup. In the batting order, they have the likes of Jos Buttler, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sanju Samson, Shimron Hetmyer, and others. In the bowling lineup, they have the likes of Ravichandran Ashwin, Yuzvendra Chahal, Trent Boult, Nandre Burger, and so on.

Here is the predicted XI of RCB for the match against RR in the IPL 2024:

Openers – Faf Du Plessis (C) and Virat Kohli

RCB will continue with their opening lineup. Faf Du Plessis and Virat Kohli will open the innings against RR. Faf will also be the skipper of RCB. After being the best batter of RCB in 2023, Du Plessis has failed to make a mark as a batter in the ongoing league. The experienced batter batted well against CSK but has not fired since then. RCB would want him to be in form as soon as possible, which is essential for their return in the ongoing league.

Virat Kohli has been scoring runs for RCB. Despite the criticism of his way of framing innings, Kohli has gone about his business in a good way to amass runs. The right-handed batter has been one of the best batters in the ongoing league. Against RR, Virat must play a key role to help his side beat RR. The home side has a brilliant bowling attack. While Faf goes hard at the top, Kohli can take a bit of time and play long innings which might be essential for RCB.

Middle Order – Rajat Patidar, Dinesh Karthik, and Anuj Rawat

Dinesh Karthik (Source -IPL)

In the middle order, RCB has a mix of youth and experience. Rajat Patidar is a good batter who has not been able to fire with the bat. The star batter recently made his India debut in the Test series against England. From there, the right-handed batter has lost his form which has continued in the IPL 2024 as well. RCB has Dinesh Karthik in the lower middle order, who has finished the games well. The experienced batter played a key role in RCB’s win against PBKS.

Karthik has been one of the best finishers in the ongoing season. With Anuj taking the responsibility of keeping the wickets, Dinesh has flourished as a batter. Anuj Rawat played well against CSK in the inaugural match of the season. However, he has been poor in the last three matches. The Southpaw needs to fire with the bat lower down the order. Rawat needs to improve as a keeper as well. They also have options like Suyash Prabhudesai, Will Jacks, and others who can be handy.

All-Rounders – Cameron Green, Glenn Maxwell, and Mahipal Lomror (Impact substitute)

RCB has some quality All-Rounders in their lineup. They have the Australian duo of Cameron Green and Glenn Maxwell in their lineup. On their day, both of them can singlehandedly win matches for their side. Otherwise, it is not difficult to keep them out of the game. It has been a case in the ongoing season, where they have not been able to fire with the bat. Their failure with the bat has been the main reason for RCB’s struggles in the ongoing season.

Maxwell has bowled well for RCB. However, he has not scored runs with the bat. Green has played a couple of good knocks. But he has not been able to stand up as the key batter of his side. In the lower middle order, Mahipal Lomror is being used as the impact substitute, who has played fie cameos. The Southpaw has finished the games well irrespective of the results. If required, he can be in the main team and contribute as a part-time bowler too.

Bowlers – Mayank Dagar, Reece Topley, Mohammed Siraj, and Yash Dayal

Mayank Dagar has bowled well as a spinner in the ongoing season. In the middle overs phase, he has been economical. At times, he has helped RCB to claim wickets too. To assist him in the middle overs is the reliable Maxwell who has done well as a bowler. With the new ball, RCB has a lot of options like Reece Topley, Mohammed Siraj, and Yash Dayal. Topley replaced Alzarri Joseph in the last game and is likely to play for the team in the next few games.

With the new ball, he is likely to operate alongside Yash Dayal who has been impressive in the powerplay overs. The problem for RCB has been the option of plenty. They have Vijaykumar Vyshak who did well against KKR but is unable to be in the playing XI. RCB needs to make some tougher decisions to play the best possible team. It looks like a good bowling lineup and the players need to deliver the goods. RCB also has some part-time options with the ball.
