In the 43rd game of the Indian Premier League 2024, Mumbai Indians take on the Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley stadium in New Delhi. Both teams are in need of a win in this game to still be in the race for the IPL play-offs.

Mumbai Indians had yet another dismal performance against the Rajasthan Royals as they were left shell-shocked by the century from Yashasvi Jaiswal. They have only three wins from their eight games in the tournament so far and would be looking to get on a winning streak in the next few games to stand a chance to qualify for the IPL 2024 Play-offs.

Here’s the probable playing XI for MI versus DC IPL 2024 clash:

Openers: Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan (wk)

Rohit Sharma is having one of his best IPL seasons so far. His aggressive approach from the first delivery itself has been beneficial for him as well as the franchise. The former skipper of Mumbai Indians has a good track record against the Delhi Capitals and will be looking to continue it tomorrow at the Arun Jaitley stadium.

If Ishan Kishan wants to be on the flight to the United States of America and West Indies for the T20 World Cup, he’ll have to make significant contributions. He has been having a decent season so far and has been great behind the wicket. The keeper has been getting good starts but needs to score a big one for the team in the upcoming matches.

Middle Order: Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Nehal Wadhera, Tim David

Suryakumar Yadav has been either a hit or a miss this season. He has had two fifties so far this campaign but has gotten out in single digits in the other matches so far this year. He is in contention for the number four spot in the Indian team and needs to show some consistency with the bat in this tournament.

Tilak Varma has gone under the radar in this power-packed Mumbai Indians batting line-up. He has performed every time the team needs him. The left-handed batter has been a great fit so far at the number five spot and would look to show more of his talents tomorrow against the Delhi Capitals.

There was a lot of curiosity as to why Nehal Wadhera didn’t start in the absence of Suryakumar Yadav at the start of the season. However, the Punjab batter finally started the game against Rajasthan Royals and scored a valuable fifty for his franchise. He will need to notch up big runs in the upcoming matches to seal down his spot in the team.

Tim David was touted to be the successor to Kieron Pollard but the Australian batter has struggled so far. He has not been able to close out games and has failed to get significant cameos with the bat as well. The Mumbai Indians batter’s fielding has also come into question and might have a few critics to answer this season.

All-rounders: Hardik Pandya (c), Mohammad Nabi

The captain of the Mumbai Indians is having one of his worst IPL campaigns so far and has not been able to make significant contributions both with the bat and ball. The all-rounder’s place in the Indian team has also come under jeopardy and will be looking to make a strong comeback in the second half of the campaign.

Mohammad Nabi has been a great buy for the Mumbai Indians so far as the all-rounder has made some handy contributions. He bowls overs in the powerplay and with a good economy. The all-rounder can stabilize the innings and smash the big shots during the death overs of an innings.

Bowlers: Gerald Coetzee, Piyush Chawla, Jasprit Bumrah

Piyush Chawla was drafted back into the playing XI after sitting on the bench for three games. He made his presence known as he was the only one who could grab a wicket in the 9-wicket defeat to the Rajasthan Royals on Monday.

Mumbai Indians’ Gerald Coetzee had a terrific spell. The pacer was constantly troubling the centurion Yashasvi Jaiswal with a flurry of short deliveries. He has been consistently taking wickets for his side and would look to end his first IPL season with more wickets.

The comeback of Jasprit Bumrah to the Mumbai Indians team has been mesmerizing to watch. The pacer is currently leading the wicket-taking column of the tournament and is touted to win the purple cap for the first time.
