Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Delhi Capitals (DC) will be up against each other in the 47th match of the IPL 2024. The match is set to take place at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on 29th April 2024 at 7:30 PM (IST). In the last few matches, teams have enjoyed batting at the venue. In the last three matches, 220+ have been scored on all six occasions and two of them have come in as a successful chase. PBKS in their last game registered the highest-ever run chase by scoring 262 runs, chasing the biggest target in the history of the league.
Both teams have had a contrasting journey in the league so far. While DC lost three of their first four games. KKR had won three of their first four games. In the last five games, DC have won four and lost just one.
KKR have lost three of their last five games. In the upcoming game, both teams would be focused on claiming a win which could affect their chances for the rest of the season.
Both teams have a batting-heavy side. DC have been strengthened by the entry of Jake Fraser-McGurk. Since his debut, the 2020 finalists have won four of their four matches. KKR has been dynamic in its approach towards matches. However, in the last 4-5 matches, their bowling has been exposed. Barring Sunil Narine and Harshit Rana to a certain extent, no bowler has managed to make a huge impact.
Here is the strongest predicted playing XI of KKR for the 47th game against DC in the IPL 2024 –
Openers – Sunil Narine and Phil Salt (WK)

KKR will continue to have the same opening combination they have had since the start of the season. The tactical punt of opening with Sunil Narine has worked well for KKR. The experienced player is amongst the leading run scorers and the leading wicket-takers. Most importantly, he has been impactful both as a batter and as a bowler. On his day, the star player can singlehandedly win matches for his side both with the bat and with the ball. He has improved his fielding as well.
Phil Salt at the other end has been good too. The wicketkeeper-batter has been scoring runs well and at a good rate. He has been one of the best batters in the ongoing season. In addition to it, Salt has kept wickets well for the two-time champions. The English batter can change the complexion of the game in a matter of a few overs. The right-handed batter can smash a quickfire fifty and allow other batters to play as per their wish. It has done a great deal for the Knight Riders.
Middle order – Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Shreyas Iyer (C), Rinku Singh, and Ramandeep Singh

In the middle order, KKR have some of the most talented batters. They are led by Shreyas Iyer who has recently found his mojo back as a batter. The star player has played good knocks in the last couple of matches. His captaincy has been good in patches. Angkrish Raghuvanshi has played fine knocks in the ongoing season. The youngster however needs to be a bit more consistent as a batter. He can be destructive after getting set. But the youngster needs to bat out a few overs.
Rinku Singh has not gotten many chances to have a blast. The southpaw was the best KKR batter in the last season and did well in a couple of innings in 2022 as well. If necessary, he can deliver an over or two. Nothing seems impossible when he is in the middle. To follow him, KKR has Ramandeep Singh, who has played some fine knocks for his side. The emerging batter can turn the tide in a matter of a few overs. He has batted well in the middle overs and in the death overs.
All-Rounders – Venkatesh Iyer, Andre Russell and Anukul Roy (Impact substitute)

KKR have a good set of all-rounders. Although the need for all-rounders has reduced significantly, KKR have made use of their all-rounders well. KKR have the Caribbean duo of Sunil Narine and Andre Russell, who can singlehandedly win matches for their sides with the bat and with the ball.
Russell has been brilliant as a bowler in a season where genuine bowlers have been hammered by the batters. The giant batter has been good even as a batter.
To assist the star duo at the other end, KKR have some talented players. Venkatesh Iyer has not bowled often this season. However, he can step up with the ball if there is a necessity. The southpaw has had a mixed bag as a batter. In addition to it, KKR has the option of Anukul Roy who van also be handy as an All-rounder. Lower down the order, he can play cameos as a batter. With the ball, he can bowl miserly spells and put pressure on the batters from his end.
Bowlers – Dushmantha Chameera, Harshit Rana, and Varun Chakravarthy

KKR have a good set of bowlers. In the powerplay overs, they relied on Dushmantha Chameera and Harshit Rana in the last game against PBKS. Mitchell Starc was given a rest after he cut his finger. Chameera is likely to continue in his place. The Sri Lankan pacer can extract a bit of bounce from the surface and trouble the batters. At the other end, KKR has Harshit Rana, who has been the best pacer of KKR in the IPL 2024. The emerging bowler tries to outfox the batters with his bowling.
Rana is a great thinker. Before delivering the ball, he thinks about the potential moves of the batters. He can take wickets upfront and deliver the goods at the death. For KKR to beat DC, Harshit must be at his best. Varun Chakravarthy will be the middle-overs bowler for KKR. The mystery spinner has not been at his best in the season. He will be hoping to return to form and claim some wickets. KKR have options like Starc and Vaibhav Arora who can be recalled into the side.
KKR’s predicted XI against DC :
Phil Salt (WK), Sunil Narine, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Venkatesh Iyer, Shreyas Iyer (C), Rinku Singh, Ramandeep Singh, Andre Russell, Dushmantha Chameera, Harshit Rana, Varun Chakravarthy
Impact substitute – Anukul Roy
