Sri Lanka (SL) take on Bangladesh (BAN) in match No. 15 of the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024 on Saturday, June 8, at the Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas.
These two teams have had quite the rivalry in recent times. It started from Mushfiqur Rahim’s ‘Nagin’ celebration a few years ago and intensified during last year’s ODI World Cup when Angelo Mathews was dismissed ‘timed out’. They faced each other in a multi-format series earlier this year and the animosity was palpable. Sri Lanka won the three-match T20I series 2-1.
The Lankan Lions began their T20 World Cup 2024 campaign with a defeat to South Africa on a sluggish track in New York. They were dismissed for 77 before the Proteas won the game with six wickets and 22 balls to spare. Wanindu Hasaranga and Co. would want to bounce back strongly on Saturday.
Bangladesh, on the other hand, are going to start their tournament with this clash. They have been in dismal form in recent times, having lost a series to the USA just before the marquee event. Najmul Hossain Shanto’s men were comprehensively beaten in a warm-up fixture against India by 60 runs. They will look to turn their fortunes around on Saturday against their nemesis.

Grand Prairie Stadium Pitch Report
The Grand Prairie Stadium in Dallas has been one of the rare venues where batting has been a bit easier. Three games have been played here in T20 World Cup 2024 thus far. The average first innings score is 153. The most recent encounter was between Pakistan and the USA and it turned out to be a humdinger. Winning the toss and bowling first could be a good decision at this venue.
