Pakistan do not have much time to contemplate their shortcomings which caused them the match against arch-rivals India as they lock horns with Canada in a do-or-die clash on Tuesday, June 11, at the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium in New York.

In order to keep their hopes of reaching the Super Eight stage alive, Pakistan need to win their two remaining games against Canada and Ireland and hope other results go their way. The Men in Green lost their opening game in the T20 World Cup 2024 against co-hosts USA in the Super Over. They would have manifested a strong comeback against India but they suffered a gut-wrenching six-run defeat on June 9.

Meanwhile, Canada also suffered a defeat to the USA by seven wickets in their opening fixture but they bounced back strongly to beat Ireland by 12 runs. Saad Bin Zafar’s men will take inspiration from the USA and hope to beat the 2022 finalists and stay in contention for the Super Eight stage.

Nassau County Stadium, New York, Pitch Report

The Nassau County Stadium in New York has been one of the toughest venues for scoring runs during the ongoing World Cup. Batters will need to show good application in order to score runs at this ground. Bowlers have got a lot of assistance from the surface and the trend is expected to continue on Tuesday. Anything over 140 is going to be very difficult to chase down.

PAK vs CAN Probable Best Players of the Match

Probable Best Batter of the Match:

Mohammad Rizwan could play a role at the top of the order against Canada. He has scored just 40 runs in the first two matches but has the ability to play the sheet anchor’s role, which is important on the tough New York track. Rizwan will look to bat deep into the innings so that others around him can play freely.

Probable Best Bowler of the Match:

Naseem Shah has been in good form during the T20 World Cup 2024. He has picked up four wickets in the first two games so far. Three of the four wickets came against the Men in Blue. Naseem’s ability to swing the ball at pace could cause the Canadian batters a lot of problems. Pakistan captain Babar Azam would want his young right-arm pacer to make early inroads with the new ball.
