India Women (IND-W) and South Africa Women (SA-W) are all set to cross swords in the third and final ODI of the ongoing three-match series on Sunday, June 23 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. Hosts India won the previous two games and have already won the series, leading by an unassailable 2-0 margin.

In the previous match, Renuka Singh Thakur was ruled out which made may for young Arundhati Reddy, who was making her debut. The last game was a record-breaking game, with over 600 runs scored in total. For India, it was the duo of captain Harmanpreet Kaur (103 off 88) and vice-captain Smriti Mandhana (136 off 120) who smashed their sixth and seventh ODI century, respectively. With the help of two tons, India managed to 325/3 in 50 overs, making it the first 300-plus total in Women’s ODIs at home.

During the chase, the visitors were also determined to chase down the high total and get the kind of start needed. Skipper Laura Wolvaardt played an unbeaten knock of 135 runs along with experienced Marizanne Kapp who smashed her third WODI century. With 11 runs required off the final over, Pooja Vastrakar kept her cool and bowled a brilliant last over, giving just six runs as Kaur & Co. won the game by four runs.

M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru Pitch Report

The M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru is renowned as a haven for batsmen. Its pitch typically provides excellent batting conditions, and the compact field dimensions make it easier for batters to hit boundaries. Given the high-scoring nature of the venue, even substantial totals can be challenging to defend. The previous game witnessed 646 runs scored, making it the second-highest aggregate in a women’s ODI. And hence, the team that will win the toss will opt to bat first.
