Team India (IND) will take on Zimbabwe (ZIM) in the second T20I at the Harare Sports Club, in Harare, on July 7. The young brigade is eager to perform and prove their mettle on the international stage, especially after suffering a shambolic defeat in the series opener.

India faced a loss by 13 runs in the first game at the same venue, as they couldn’t chase down a seemingly easy target of 116 runs set by the hosts. A comeback will be crucial for the Men in Blue, while the African nation would be excited to keep their winning momentum going.

Zimbabwe will be relying on their pace bowling department as the likes of Wellington Masakadza, Blessing Muzarabani, and Richard Ngarava will have to deliver goods for the hosts in the upcoming match as well. Tendai Chatara will also be the one to watch out for. Shubman Gill, who scored 31 runs in the first game, will have to provide more confidence in the batting unit, while Riyan Parag and Abhishek Sharma will aim to add up to the familiarity of the conditions, after unsuccessful maiden outings.

Pitch Report

All the games of the T20I series will be played at the Harare Sports Club and the deck assists both batter and the pacers. Pacers will get ample bounce from the deck, and the batter will find it difficult to get over the ball. Spinners will be deprived of turn, and they will have to rely on the line and lengths. The weather will be sunny and there is no threat of rain.

Probable Top Performers from ZIM vs IND

Probable Best Batter: Shubman Gill

Shubman Gill has scored just 40 runs in his last four T20I innings. His last fifty-plus score came against West Indies in August 2023, scoring 77 off 43. The India opener is going through a run draught in the shortest format of the game. He was not at his best for Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2024 too, he will be eying for a resurgence against Zimbabwe.

Probable Best Bowler: Avesh Khan

Rising pacer Avesh Khan was impressive in IPL 2024 for Rajasthan Royals, but his economy rate was a point of concern in the powerplay. The pacer impressed at the death and claimed most of his wickets. He will be the pacer Gill would be utilising effectively, especially against the likes of Sikandar Raza and Brian Bennett.
